Holiday
greetings to all our Family and Friends!
2009 was a
year full of good times enjoyed with family and
friends and just enough
travel to keep our chronic case of wanderlust satisfied.
We occupied ourselves with
lots of cooking, eating and drinking, spending time with friends
and exploring the nooks and crannies of our current home state of
New Mexico. In addition to our New Mexico wanderings, we
managed to get away further from home on several occasions this
year: a bachelor party weekend in Las Vegas (Caroline tagged
along for some pool-time), Memorial Day Weekend in Puerto
Vallarta (following Caroline's 2-month, full-time temp job),
Caroline's 40th birthday celebration in the San Juan Mountains
of Colorado in June and a couple of trips to Arizona to the
Grand Canyon (January) and for some Phoenix-area shopping
(August). Caroline traveled to the Midwest twice this year
- a solo family visit to Michigan in August and a month later
with Scott to attend a family wedding in South Bend, IN (with a
stop in Chicago to see friends). Our final bit of travel this
year before the Christmas holidays was a fabulous trip to the
Denver area, including a day in Rocky Mountain National Park,
over Thanksgiving weekend (which was also Scott's birthday
weekend). Since Scott was quite busy
working full-time at the hospital as well as teaching an LSAT
test prep class from July to September and we were also cat-sitting
for our friend Nikki
during this time, we spent much of the summer close to
home. Long, balmy hours were spent enjoying our new patio
lounge furniture (as well as the awesome summer thunderstorms!),
in relaxing solitude as well as in the company of friends - it
was a Stay-cation to end all stay-cations! And finally, we
enjoyed a food- and laughter-filled visit from Scott's parents
over Halloween weekend.
For
Christmas, we’ll be making a trip back to Michigan for a
quick visit with Scott's parents, and then on to spend some time
with Caroline's parents, sister, brother-in-law and our 3-year-old nephew
Christopher. On Christmas Day, we'll be traveling to
Caroline's Aunt Nancy's
home in Alexandria, VA,
where we'll visit with her Dad, Step-mom, Grandparents and
Dog-cousins for a couple days. Before flying home, we also
hope to meet up with friends Janet and Mark, who now live in
Washington DC. We look forward to seeing everyone and only
wish we had more time to spend with all of you!
