With our condo close scheduled for tomorrow, we have been busily
packing up the condo this week, trying to figure out how/if
we'll be able to fit everything into our van... All those
Mexican pots and handicrafts add up. Scott has already
planned to pack his shoes into a chiminea to save space.
When we're not packing (or thinking about packing), we've been
trying to enjoy the things we love about San Miguel - the
weather, the walks, the street food (tacos,
hamburguesas,
corn-on-a-stick), as well as attempting to see some friends one
last time before heading north.
On Saturday, we made it a point to finally visit the historic
center of Querétaro, the city of one million located just an
hour away from San Miguel. It's a lovely (& clean!)
downtown, much easier to walk in than SMA, with several large
and bustling plazas. Although Scott has been there before,
Caroline had only seen the Querétaro ring road, which boasts
about a dozen big box stores (including Wal-Mart, Home Depot,
Office Depot & Max, Costco, Sam's, Sears, new malls,
cinemas, fast food, etc.) but not much charm. A fun
afternoon out.
We close tomorrow and leave the following day (3/1) for the
three-day drive to Albuquerque, where we'll find ourselves at
the Hilton Homewood Suites extended stay hotel. We're
looking forward to once again selling our place and the feeling
of freedom that comes with driving away with all of our stuff in
tow, no place to call home, but no ties or responsibility
either.
