Boston Wrap-Up

11/02/06 - Boston, MA (Boston photo album)

Family visits and beautiful fall days are the highlights

Time to head out to Brooklyn, but thought we'd better catch up with our website before we forget Boston entirely.  As the secondary title above states, one of our highlights was meeting up with the 'Boston-based Brookses', that is, Uncle Roger and cousins Kyle and Ben, along with Ben's girlfriend, Melanie.  Utilizing their local expertise, we managed to eat our way through last Sunday with them... starting with dim-sum in Chinatown for lunch and not stopping until a post-dinner dessert stop at Charley's.  It was great to catch up and see everyone doing well - sorry Aunt Janet couldn't make it out... maybe next time!

Halloween made us nostalgic for our fun Halloweens-past in San Francisco, but it was nice to be in a neighborhood where kids were out trick-or-treating (even if they didn't come to our door - forcing us to eat our entire bag of candy).  As the weather turned from bitter cold and rainy into pleasant autumn days we found ourselves spending most of our time walking around Boston, Cambridge and Somerville, while taking our usual numerous meal breaks.  Our favorite activity was walking along the Charles, down the Commonwealth Ave. Mall and other of the numerous green spaces available to Bostonians, where the colorful leaves were at their peak.  Boston seems like an easy place to live, a decent sized city that feels laid back and friendly - with people asking us left and right if we needed directions or help (do we look that clueless?  Apparently, yes).  If only they'd move the city south a thousand miles each winter, we could live here.

Yes, we're all related

Scott heard there was going to be some tea party down by the waterfront?

Boston, the Town of Beans

Settling into our house in Boston for the week

After a 13-hour drive (with an overnight stop in Buffalo) and one speeding ticket, we arrived in Boston last night and met our home exchangers.  We love our neighborhood of charming Boston brownstones, and the house should be perfect for us.  It's the bottom two flats of a 5 level house, which - if you're interested, happens to be for sale for a mere $995,000!
