Since our return from our fateful
trip to Puebla earlier this month and Caroline's full
recovery following a relapse, we have been feverishly renewing
our immigration documents, planning our next 2-1/2 month trip to
Europe, finishing our remodeling projects and putting the
finishing touches on the San Miguel condo. The pressure's
on, since there are three home exchange couples who will
be staying here during our 6-month absence from Mexico while we
traipse about Europe and the US: Conor and Clare from Scotland,
Loren and Art from NYC (Brooklyn) and our Dutch friends Daniel
and Leonne will all be calling this place home for a couple
weeks or so this summer and fall. There have been some
tense, worrisome times, but we feel confident that all will be
well as we prepare to leave this Tuesday, the 4th of July.
The kitchen is looking great and we are very excited to see the
completed countertops in the next couple of days. Oh, and
it will be really cool to have the stove and dishwasher
installed (and removed from the living room) too.
Although the bathroom remodel was technically finished prior to
our return from Europe in May, we just finished outfitting it
with a custom toilet paper holder (ingeniously designed by Scott
for smooth and easy rolling), hand towel bar and towel rack (a
perfect copy of a Pottery Barn design - sshhh, don't tell
anyone! - in a custom size and finish and for half the price)
skillfully fabricated and installed by our wonderful and
hardworking ironworker. Bravo, Samuel! Stay tuned
for the grand unveiling of our fabulous new kitchen! |
