Four long days
of driving across Mexico and the US. One week recuperating
from the drive, visiting with Caroline's family and doing some
whirlwind necessary shopping (bathing suits in Mexico are sooo
tiny!) in and around Grand Haven, MI.
And then...ahhhhh,
3-1/2 days of pure bliss sitting in a lounge chair reading or
just gazing out at the unbelievably beautiful blue waters of
Torch Lake, enjoying the cool breezes, catching up with Scott's
parents and Kowalewski uncle and cousins, watching the kids,
Marylin (2), Vito (1) and Jimmy (10 mos.) play in the sand,
swimming, taking an occasional pontoon boat ride and making
memories to recall in years to come. The weather's been
hot and sunny and the lake is having one of its warmest years
ever, by popular Kowalewski consensus. No
responsibilities, no logistics, no remodeling. In a word,
heavenly.
It's time to return
to Grand Haven tomorrow for the tail end of the Grand Haven
Coast Guard Festival; Caroline simply couldn't miss Art in the
Park, the deliciously greasy elephant ears and Ferris wheel at
the carnival, the parade, grand finale fireworks and Mom's homemade blueberry
crisp, of course! It's been a wonderful few days and we
are sad to go, but Caroline will be happy to no longer be
sharing a bathroom with six other people! |
